Four simple words that changed my life – “You should make those!” Let me back up. On a late night TikTok doom scroll, I came across a local artist who made Polymer Clay earrings. I immediately fell in love with her work and ordered a pair because I love supporting small businesses. When I wore them to work, my coworker, Reiley, complimented them. After explaining that they were made by a local artist, Reiley said those four simple words that redirected the course of my life.

But it didn’t start right away! I’m VERY risk averse, naturally anxious, and indecisive. Especially when it comes to taking financial risks. I spent every day of the next month thinking about polymer clay earrings. I did research on different techniques and materials required to start, and I put them all into my Amazon cart. I looked at it every day but never checked out because it was just so much money to make some earrings! I still remember – it was $177. At that time, I had absolutely no intention of starting a business. I just wanted to create earrings for me and my friends. Finally, I pulled the trigger and ordered the supplies! I have never been so excited to receive a package in my life.

And that’s where the obsession began! Once I started creating, I just couldn’t stop. Soon I had so many earrings that I couldn’t give them away quickly enough! After encouragement from multiple friends, I started a small Etsy page thinking there would be no risk if the earrings just sat on the site since I was just doing it for fun! On the day I launched my Etsy shop, I got 13 orders. The rest is history!
